The Magick of Tea with Bwa Bwei Moon Blocks: A Practical Divination Guide for the Fire Horse Year
Where to buy moon blocks? A limited number are available for purchase at $55 USD + taxes and shipping, or can be picked up by in-person attendees at the event. Please contact Mimi to inquire.
Bwa Bwei are a pair of moon-shaped wooden blocks used to receive clear, directional insight. It’s a practice of asking the right question, casting with respect, and learning how to recognize the answer when it arrives. Unlike Tarot, the I Ching, runes, or other more complex divinatory systems, Bwa Bwei offers immediacy and clarity rather than layered interpretation—making it especially suited for moments when you need to know whether to proceed, pause, or redirect.
YEAR OF FIRE HORSE: Lunar New Year Rituals and Predictions
Join us to prepare for and give honour to the arrival of the Fire Horse, a double fire year, since Fire is also the Horse’s native element. Expect the year to feel highly excitable and hot blooded.
Here’s a glimpse of what we’ll explore in our 2026 Lunar New Year online event for the Chinese Year of the Fire Horse (note other east Asian traditions also follow the lunar calendar, but I will be exploring this within the context of Chinese astrology):
Spark and Scope: Igniting Creative Charge
We open with art mediumship and automatic writing to name the year’s core desire and define scope. We’ll discuss the need to cultivate momentum with guardrails to avoid burnout or simply travelling quickly in the wrong direction. Techniques focus on stabilizing inspiration, transforming bursts of enthusiasm into sustained creation, while honouring the Horse’s instinct for freedom and passion.
Cadence and Capacity: Building Momentum Without Burnout
Horses move in gaits, and Fire moves in phases…
Within Yin: A Winter Solstice Gathering with Hexagram 24 of the I Ching
The Winter Solstice marks the longest night of the year, and according to Daoist philosophy, when Yin reaches its fullness and the first stirrings of Yang return. In the I Ching, this is Hexagram 24, Return (復 Fù): Thunder beneath the Earth, the seed of light hidden in deep Yin.
Join animist spirit medium Mimi Young for a two-hour lecture-plus-ritual exploring the mysteries of Hexagram 24. Together, we will reflect on the Solstice as a threshold of renewal, practice bilateral drawing and pendulum divination to embody the rhythm of return, and explore Thunder ☳ as the seed-trigram of renewal through trigram transformations and mini-readings. We will learn how to fire scry, gazing into the living flame as the mirror of the returning light.
A Samhain Séance: Scrying the Dark Stream with Hexagram 29 of the I Ching
At Samhain, when the veil thins and the dead draw near, we enter Hexagram 29: The Abysmal — the dark stream of the I Ching. This hexagram, water doubled ☵ ☵, is the current of descent, danger, and initiation, teaching us how to move with fear and depth as regenerative forces.
In this two-hour ritual gathering, we’ll explore necromancy, water scrying, and divination with the I Ching, weaving them together as practices for honoring and communing with the dead. Through shamanic journeying, trigram casting, and shared reflection, we’ll practice “walking the Abysmal” with sincerity and courage.
Spell Service: Fall Equinox Ritual for Cord Cutting & Momentum Building
What This Fall Equinox Ritual Service is Intended to Support:
This ritual can bring a noticeable lightening: feeling less weighed down, more focused, and ready to make moves with steadiness. Subtle but accumulative, the results often show up as improved clarity, grounded confidence, and tangible power in your day-to-day life.
Cord cutting: Releasing energetic residue from past relationships, outdated roles, or ways of working
Harmonizing your inner landscape when you’re navigating change or decision fatigue
Rebalancing your personal Qi to support a calmer, more directed season ahead
Letting go of fear-based attachments that block your voice, visibility, or earning capacity
Opening clearer paths forward: spiritually, emotionally, financially, relationally
Creating space and direction for aligned opportunities, including those related to work, money, or collaboration
Spell Service: Home Energy Clearing and Spirit Tending on Zhongyuan Festival
Hungry Ghost Day, observed during the Zhongyuan Festival (中元節) in the Daoist lunar calendar, marks a rare opening between worlds, when the Gate of the Earth is believed to open and wandering or forgotten spirits cross into the human realm. Rooted in Daoist cosmology and East Asian animist traditions, this is not just cultural observance but a form of spiritual hygiene and energetic protection, where offerings are made to honour ancestors and appease unsettled spirits. Their presence, even if not personally connected to us, can manifest as lingering grief, fatigue, emotional weight, or subtle unrest in the home.
This ritual is not about remembering or appeasing someone else’s dead — that is not mine to do. Rather, it is a spell of petition and protection from spirits, performed to restore peace in your home by tending to the spiritual residue that may be lingering unseen. Through sacred fire, ritual speech, and offerings of fruit and herbs, I petition on your behalf for resolution, release, and balance, creating both boundary and balm between the living and the dead.
If you’ve been wondering how to clear negative energy from your home or how to protect your energy, or spirit protection in general, this spell service offers an ethical and effective path. This ritual is ideal for those carrying unnamed grief, sensing ancestral echoes, or seeking renewed clarity and safety in their space.
Money That Stays Spell Service
Wealth-Fortified Days in Chinese Almanac
This spell service is designed not to chase more, but to help your money stay with you, settle, and become a co-regulating presence in your life.
Timed with Geng Yin and Ji Wei days in the Daoist almanac, this ritual is focused on energetic cohesion between you and the wealth you already attract.
Through altar work, mineral and sigil magic for money, and spirit invocations, I’ll help secure your financial flow, seal energy leaks from anxious spending or overgiving, and strengthen your relationship with money as a steady, supportive presence.
Magnetism Reset Spell Service
Mid-July this Wood Snake Year offers a rare opening where Western astrology and the Chinese almanac align to support energetic realignment. With Jupiter and Sun trine Neptune, and a sequence of bright, luck-filled days according to the Chinese calendar (Yi You Day flowing to Ding Hai Day), this Magnetism Reset spell is for those feeling scattered, overlooked, or energetically off-track.
Through altar work, sigil magic, ritual speech, and spirit collaboration, I’ll work on your behalf to clear interference, restore your natural magnetism, and align you with the visibility and resonance you’re ready for. The idea is to shift the need from constant hustling or pushing to a radiant composure of attraction.
SUMMER SOLSTICE SÉANCE with the Wood Snake, Fire Spirit and Our Beloved Dead
Friday, June 20 from 6-8 PM PDT
live-stream with recording
Happy Summer Solstice!
During the Summer Solstice, the daylight stretches to its fullest, the most Yang day of the year, according to Daoist cosmology. Yang represents what is expressed, luminous, and alive with movement. At this solar peak, the night (the Yin) contracts to its shortest. This is the season of Fire, of action, clarity, the heart, and the eyes. Yet in 2025, we are in a Wood Snake year in the Chinese astrological calendar — a time when the Serpent, a Yin creature, holds and stewards the Fire, which is also its natal element. Fire, then, is not blazing outward unchecked; it is coiled, discerning, and paradoxical,
In this guided Summer Solstice ceremony, Mimi Young, animist spirit medium and occult educator, will open the séance field for participants to receive messages from the Wood Snake herself, the Fire Element of Yang, as well as loving spirits, ancestors, and benevolent nature beings. We will work ritually to call in guidance, release inherited noise, and access the oracle of the Serpent and Fire within and around us, and through the elemental lens of Daoist cosmology.
This is an opportunity to deepen your animist connection with the Unseen, refine your psychic boundaries, receive spirit guidance, and engage with Fire as an ally.
The Magick of Tea: Blue Mysteries, Creativity and Cartomancy
Learn cartomancy playing card meanings and the secrets of the colour blue, all in a healing container of art facilitation.
Blue is a colour of non-binaries—calm yet igniting, soothing yet commanding, reflective yet initiatory—it is both wave and particle. It has long been associated with wisdom, protection, and transformation, appearing in sacred garments and amulets, fine porcelain, and the depths of the sea and sky. In this two-part day retreat, we will explore blue spiritual meaning through creative process, occult practice, and the personhood of Tea.
Spell Service: Return to Sender
On Sunday, May 18, Mimi Young, animist occultist will be performing a Return to Sender ritual on behalf of folks who are looking for spiritual aid in the regard. The focus will be to remove unseen harmful energies and influences, and send them back to their original source, cleansed from your field and life. This work is designed to dissolve energetic blocks, untangle lingering harm, and restore your personal field to clarity and strength.
Spell Service: Road Opening + Money Drawing on Qi Lin Day
Money spells - witch for hire: Qi Lin Day is considered especially auspicious in Taoist calendrical wisdom, linked to the energy of the mythical Qi Lin—a sacred symbol of peace, protection, and prosperity. This makes it an ideal day for Taoist-aligned spellwork focused on road opening and wealth drawing. The day carries benevolent cosmic support for new and renewed opportunities and material abundance.
When things won’t budge—when applications go unanswered, doors close for no reason, or funds just don’t seem to flow—it’s time to clear the path.
On Qi Lin Day, I’ll be conducting two sets of spellwork on your behalf: one to remove blockages and open the way forward, and one to petition the spirits for financial flow—support that’s aligned, sustainable, and tangible.
This is a remote ritual and private spell service conducted on your behalf. Your role is to simply opt in, and let the work begin.
The Magick of Tea: Creatively Cutting
*This will be the last Magick of Tea gathering until 2025!
Collage making is an art therapy method that reminds ourselves of our ability to show up in our lives in refreshing ways, in ways that we want to. The process itself can mimic a shock or severance, then a processing and accepting that paves way to meditation, healing ritual, and a place to reconstruct.
Sitting with the combined ceremony of Tea and healing collage making, timed with the approaching Winter Solstice, makes the hidden visible.
MYSTERIES OF THE HARVEST - A Fall Equinox Celebration with Animist Wisdom of The Earth and Metal Elements of Taoism
Join us for this occult course via live-stream (with recording) to usher in the Fall Equinox, where according to ancient Taoist principles or Five Elements (Wu Xing), is about rooting in the Earth Element and envisioning with the Metal Element. The Earth grounds us and grows us, its materiality is what makes our human experience distinct. From this home and body, we are able to wield the Metal qualities of clarity and vision. In many ways, this season of the Fall is likened to potions: both fortifying by drawing nutrients and by expelling unwanted entities. The Autumnal Equinox is equal parts creation and destruction; everything changing all at once.
MYSTERIES OF THE FIRE ELEMENT - Honouring the Yang on Summer Solstice
During the Summer Solstice, the day becomes the longest (associated with Yang, or daylight or the expressed) of the year while the night is the shortest (linked to Yin, or darkness or the potentiated). This makes the Summer Solstice the most Yang day of the year, signifying the peak of summer and Yang-Fire energy.
Join us via live-stream (with recording) to usher in the Fire Season, also known as the Summer or Greater Yang phase, according to ancient Chinese traditions, including Daoist practice. The wisdoms shared and rituals we’ll engage in will not only help us honour the visible, as represented as the Solar archetype, but also to relate with the Yang aspect (sometimes referred to as the Masculine) that has so often been misunderstood or vilified. This continues our year-round exploration of the Wu Xing (Five Elements) according to Daoist principles.
The Magick of Tea: Collaging as Oracle
*This will be the last Magick of Tea gathering until the fall!

The Magick of Tea: Doodling + Divining
Little-known to many, doodling engages our brains in the theta state. Theta waves, one of the five types of electrical pulses generated by the brain, often occur during meditation, dreaming, or deep relaxation. Research suggests theta waves play a significant role in processing information and forming memories. Doodling offers insights, serving as an oracle and catalyst for our needs to emerge, spiritual healing, and what’s coming into our auric fields.
For this Magick of Tea hybrid gathering (in-person and live-stream), participants will explore a superlative flight of teas, rich in L-theanine, known to heighten theta wave activities. As attendees indulge in these teas supporting easeful, intuitive, and flowing creativity, Mimi will channel personalized messages for the group based on the doodles they create. This deeply psychic and divinatory session promises insights into both the 'Whats' and 'Hows,' providing valuable guidance for participants' next steps.

“This morning’s Magick of Tea was so powerful and tender. I’m so grateful and amazed how you and Tea gently revealed shadows and energetic supports within the short 2 hour container. I am even grateful for the tears and re-connecting with memories and deeper meanings and symbolisms for healing and understanding.”

MYSTERIES OF THE WOOD ELEMENT
MYSTERIES OF THE WOOD ELEMENT
Originally offered as a live-stream to usher in the Wood Season, also known as the Spring, according to ancient Chinese traditions, the wisdoms and rituals shared in this pre-recorded e-course can be practiced and observed at any point of the year, especially when one is working with the Wood Element as an ally, or if one is navigating a Wood phase in their life.
If you’ve ever wondered what happens on Spring Equinox, and how to honour the Spring Equinox, it’s a time where the cycles renew, and an occasion to celebrate the Wood Element’s return. The Wood Element is long found in the mythological, cosmological, and magical traditions that is found in Taoism (also spelled as Daoism). Wood is the phase that corresponds with the Spring season, the direction of the East, the planet Jupiter, and the Liver organ since Wood speaks about re-emergence, mobility, and new perspectives. Mimi Young, animist spirit medium shares how to approach and relate with the Wood Element as an ally and without the distortions of a hyper-productive society, through these key Wood wisdoms that is foundational to Chinese astrology and the I Ching.
Rooting to Rise – Wood’s archetype is the Sacred Fool. Wood invites us to step into literal and metaphorical wilderness, to step into new ground, embrace the unfamiliar, and play with experimentation and adventure, all while remaining rooted in our ancestral connections, and devoted in our spiritual practices.
Body Awe – Wood invites us to honour our emotions through movement rather than reflection alone, embracing the potencies and pace of our muscles, our bones, and our skin.
Following the Tao – Wood invites us to not rely on anxiety, stress, or anger alone to get work done, but instead, to follow the winds of the Cosmic Life Force, the Tao. In addition to this, by relating with the Liver in ways the organ truly desires, we can honour our voice, limitations, and frustrations in a way that can prompt creativity and heart-felt inner drives.
Through sympathetic magic, listeners can learn and follow along how to cast animist spells and ritualized practices that conjure and reflect the energies of Wood.
Participants have noted how the course has helped them:
Regained clarity and joy as they navigate new starts and transitions, after the literal and symbolic season of Winter
Gained practical clarity for their situation or next steps
Grew a deepened animist connection with this Element
Embraced the Spring in a paced manner that honours oneself
Renewed into a vivid authenticity, moving from the perspective of time as terror (“I should”) to honouring our unique, innate rhythms (“I want” and “I am”).
Became more comfortable with experimentation instead of staying in stale but familiar spaces
Enhanced greater intuition and psychic skills, and harnessing the mood-affecting properties of Earth’s position with the Sun.
