SIMPLE MOON RITUALS FOR POWERFUL ENERGETIC SHIFTS: IN COLLABORATION WITH GOOP
I return to goop, and was interviewed about Moon rituals that highlights principles of Yin, Yang, and Daoism (the philosophy that birthed the Five Elements and Chinese Zodiac) in general. The idea is to slow right down, get tactile, and relate differently than you typically would.
HOW DOES THE FORCE IN STAR WARS PLAY PARALLEL WITH THE DAO ACCORDING TO DAOISM?
In Daoism (Taoism), the concept of the Dao (Tao) refers to the fundamental vital life force that underlies and connects all beings and all things in the Cosmos.
In Star Wars, the Force is portrayed as a powerful and all-encompassing energy that connects all living things in the galaxy.
The Dao and the Force are both accepted as beyond the realm of human control and full human knowledge. It is the Dao that has the ultimate say; all else may be understood as mystery.
WHAT REST IS
There is Day and there is Night.
There are Spring and Summer, and there are Fall and Winter.
There are Pause and Stillness, and there are Momentum and Activity.
#STRAIGHTTALK ON WELLNESS & SPIRITUALITY
I can recall a time when originality, nuance, and depth were things to take pride in. In today’s culture one has to shrink it all into a generic elevator pitch or beige hashtag. We are told by marketers and influencers that what we say must be palatable for the mainstream. True stories— I’ve been told by more than one (white) female-owned “wellness” studio / space / workplace that I need to be less “intimidating” by “dumbing down” my knowledge, that by being “too myself”, I’m being too niche. These same establishments also champion themselves as feminists— #bossbabes that #manifest. As if being an entrepreneur has anything to do with gender. And as if it has anything to do with being “fuckable”. The last time I checked, basing a woman’s credibility on her body is defined as sexism.
THE AGE OF LOW CALORIE SPIRITUALITY
We know that the wellness / spirituality industry has a racism problem. But within the same wellness / spirituality circles, there exists another problem (that isn't unrelated to the former). I'd like to call it spiritual diet culture. The predominating wellness consumer wants a low calorie, low commitment, nutrient and culturally stripped healing experience that has everything to do with appearance and very little to do with the traditional spiritual practices and the peoples where they are taken from.
THE GODDESS WEARS MANY DIFFERENT FACES
The “Goddess look”, long, flowing hair, supple skin, round-breasted, full hips, ankle-length dress, gracious with flowers in hand, maybe a wild beast nearby, sunlight peaking through — You know the ‘look’...
RESPONSIBLE MANIFESTATION
For the last two months, I've been probing the shadow side of the spiritual notion called the 'Manifestation Principle', and the potentially dangerous misuses of the Law of Attraction, particularly by leaders, healers, and teachers in the wellness and spiritual community.
