NATURAL LAWS FOR INTUITION
1. Intuition require spaciousness and an unrushed pace to be the most authentic and reliable.
2. Rest and play fuel and sustain intuition.
3. Curiosity, receptivity and non-judgment to associations, signs, symbols (dreams, omens, synchronicities, correspondences) develop fluency.
DO SPIRITS CHANGE?
This morning, during my visit to the Inner Spirit Temple (an inner, spirit space where members of the Homing Coven can seek solace, meditate, and do group work), I was met by a few spirit beings I learn from and work with closely. One of the beings, Fire, along with a few plant allies, said to me, 'We change, too, you know."
DOES INTUITION CHANGE AS WE AGE?
Even the most seasoned intuitive, psychic, witch, healer, or spirit worker experience plateaus or deep winter seasons from time to time. The idea here is not to force our work into perpetual springs, as every phase of a cycle can be opportunities for engagement with the Seen and Unseen, to deepen our spiritual practice, to return to foundational lessons and skills, to renew our sense of humility and commitment to our craft.
What October Means
October is a month when witches recognize the veil between the Seen and the Unseen is thinnest, and for this reason, ancestors are connected with, spirits communed with, deities adored. Those who honour the lunar calendar may see October as the latter half of Autumn, having just celebrated the Mid Autumn Festival on September 21 this year. October is a month that holds endings and beginnings. And for this reason, I wanted this issue to hold you in the ways where you may feel flux. I've included some remarks on the symbolism of home, notes on my favourite plants to cross thresholds with, a hearty carrot cake with adaptogens recipe, a transcription of a conversation between Lisa Anderson Schaffer and myself on the topic of longing.
Why I don't want to empower you
I don't want to empower you.
I want to help you understand I already see your power; your inherent power that cannot be learned or earned, your power that simply is.
WALK WITH ME
Walk with me.
The apprentices within my Mystery Mentorship program are not students, and I am not their teacher. Rather, when an apprentice signs up to walk with me each Sunday, week in and week out through a single module or all 5 that spans over a year, we are stepping into an ancient commitment of personal alchemy.
SMELLS LIKE TEEN GOSSIP
I smell things. Some describe this as extra-sensory scent, clairolfaction or clairolfactance. Others simply call it psychic smelling. My first time was when I was in junior high. A “mean girl” spread some rumour about me (eye roll — I was talking to her boyfriend — correction— her boyfriend was talking to me), and she claimed the rumour was started by someone else. It was the usual adolescent cocktail of hormones, drama, 'territory', and insecurities. The scapegoated girl denied the words, but didn’t want to point fingers either because it meant her own reputation was liable, and in high schools, reputation is everything.
SENSING IN THE DARK
This Mercury Rx that has asked us to turn inwards, to swim in murkiness, to let uncertainty take the lead, to lose not in the sense of not winning, but losing in the sense of surrendering to ending cycles and embracing conditions of re-membering, redirection, and re-creation. This work is not just for Autumn and Winter. In fact, for me, this type of inner work often takes place during the Summer. Seasons aren't fixed and our internal landscapes do not just hold one archetype at a time. We can be Maiden, Mother, Wise Woman of varying degrees, of varying expressions, at varying times. Yes, we can enter internal rites of passages and initiations, but embodying archetypes need not be linear. They almost always demand incubation periods that involve some form of loss and surrender.
