The Gift of Mercury Retrograde

Mimi Young

trimaranbotanicals_mercuryretrograde

Of all the planetary aspects, it is perhaps Mercury Retrograde that everyone loves to fear and hate. How can we resist, when the havoc-wreaking planet presents the illusion of slowing and moving backwards? Emails aren't sent, deadlines missed, blog posts spontaneously disappearing while it is being written (my computer crashed 6x while writing this), vehicles breaking down, flights canceled, loving words misinterpreted...

So what to do? Reschedule everything these next few weeks? Defiantly charge full steam ahead? Could it mean that we remain our own creators, and should there be hiccups along our journey that the Cosmos is simply reminding us to pay attention to the greater context and to let things flow, as they are cosmically intended? Could it be that rather than shaking our fists at the stars, this is an ideal time to take stock, tend to our existing commitments, pause and hibernate, even? If we all dare to profess that duality doesn't exist, then how can Mercury Retrograde be villainized? Even the plant spirit allies, on a recent Shamanic journey, reminded me that no plant blooms all four seasons long, and to expect it to isn't natural nor sustainable. Perhaps we can take a gentler approach to the stars and ourselves, and as the expectation to live a "constantly productive" pace isn't all that productive, as if life is solely defined by productivity, anyway.

And while I still will be wearing Peridot to soften these next few weeks, should I spill my tea on my laptop, I hope that my response shifts from, "Fuck you, Mercury Retrograde," to "Hello, great Qi, I was multi-tasking again. Thanks for inviting me to take tea with You, alone, without my emails."

Love and light,
Mimi xo

SPONTANEITY AS MEDICINE

Mimi Young

“Full spontaneity is a guarantee of honest expression of the nature and the style of the freely functioning organism, and of its uniqueness. Both words, spontaneity and expressiveness, imply honesty, naturalness, truthfulness, lack of guile, non-imitativeness, etc., because they also imply a non-instrumental nature of the behavior, a lack of wilful ‘trying’, a lack of effortful striving or straining, a lack of interference with the flow of the impulses and the free ‘radioactive’ expression of the deep person.” -- Abraham Maslow

The excerpt above is a reminder of how the spontaneous is creative, beautiful, authentic, magical, inspiring, wildly romantic, simple, graceful, and dare I say, healing? I hold the intention for us to grow together, individually and collectively, and embrace the spontaneous as an integral part of higher consciousness. The plant allies leave us with this potently simple mantra, “I allow.”

WHY CEREMONIAL SKINCARE?

Mimi Young

I feel that nowadays even though we have the internet on our phones - I mean we can’t even leave our house or go the washroom without our phones - we like to think we are connected. But I’m not so sure if we are - I think we have been afforded convenience to the point that instant gratification is perceived as a human right - but I think we are more disconnected than ever, especially with ourselves. I hope that Trimaran Botanicals is something that people can experience with themselves, to continue their own self dialogue, to come home to themselves, so that they can then truly connect back outside of themselves from a “whole” holistic place.

And how and where to start? Start small. Choose a shamanically made product and its accompanying mantra, and begin honouring the inner self while manifesting the outer.

A QUANTUM LEAP

Mimi Young

trimaranbotanicals_leap_year_2016

It's February 29 on Monday. Many mystics are referring this leap year as a quantum leap year - 2016 as a year of cosmic change, far-reaching healing, and dramatic regaining of authentic power. Working with my plant allies, power animals, and crystal devas, the theme is consistent with the intuitives, though they seem to be saying that these shifts may be small and imperceptible, at first. We are called to tenderly return to Self, to the ground, to the internal, to the cellular, to intuition, to a quiet personal power, and to the unknown. If this quantum period were compared to cards from the Tarot deck, it may be The High Priestess x The Ace of Pentacles.

It's a time of reintegrating after a long journey - shamanic and otherwise. We are lifting obstacles, releasing layers of victimhood, and setting transformative and healing mantras. We are no longer the same, but can anyone tell, yet? The spirits can. And they say, "Keep going."

“Everything in the universe is within you. Ask all from yourself.”

INTERVIEW WITH THE WILDCARD

Mimi Young

Back in December 2015, before Trimaran Botanicals even had an online presence, I had a chance to catch up with Alli Hayes, the brilliant darling behind the local, Vancouver-based indie blog The Wildcard Wins, featuring highlights on art, culture, sex-topics and beyond. With all my discussion about shamanism and vegan beauty, she also wanted some insights about botanical ingredients, particularly essential oils, and how Trimaran Botanicals sources for our handblended, toxin-free, made with mantras, shamanic skincare. Steep a cup of tea and enjoy the read. Happy Sunday.

Shamanism and Beauty

Mimi Young

At the risk of oversimplifying, I go on shamanic journeys because it is an insightful and effective healing process to deeply self-nourish, beautify internally and increase overall wellness. Life is beyond busy for all of us and demands our undivided attention, easily resulting in divided energies. Spending time with plant spirits, power animals, and crystal devs ground me and recalibrates my focus. The spirits speak in riddles, something I welcome as it demands that I am quiet and intentionally present - without which I would not be able to interpret their poetic words, gestures, and visual symbols into valuable advice. I use shamanic journeying as a tool, the spirits as a mere webbed interface; I do not require science to deem it as ‘real’ for me to trust it. As a recovering skeptic of anything on the ‘psychic’ plane, I am humbled and marvel at the accuracy of the messages. They are always imprinted with kindness, which vibrationally attunes me to experience more self-compassion, something I think most of us need. The world’s greedy belly incessantly urges to consume, to reach and to perfect; somehow I am quietened and gently cradled with an inner awareness that we are enough as we are, loved and radiantly beautiful, a mantra we resolve to practise, but too often doubt or forget.

And so returning to this initial connection between self-nourishment and beauty, spirit beings are so eager to help all of us, and being a shamanic practitioner, I am simply sharing their all-inclusive love and extend their invitation to tap into our own unknown through my entire work process.
